ABOUT THIS ARTWORK

Inspired by Passiflora caerulea, the blue passionflower, this botanical painting explores the intricate structure of its unusual flowers, curling tendrils and deeply divided leaves. The composition is inspired by traditional botanical plates, combining scientific detail with a more expressive, hand-painted approach.

The original artwork is painted in layered watercolour on Hahnemühle Bamboo paper and finished with delicate metallic watercolour details. These subtle accents catch the light and add a luminous quality to the flower that can only be fully appreciated on the original.

A hand-embellished print of this artwork is also available through my Etsy shop, individually finished by hand with additional metallic watercolour details. Each hand-embellished print is therefore unique.
