ABOUT THIS ARTWORK

Inspired by the deep magenta clematis climbing through my garden each summer, this painting combines open flowers, fading blooms and unopened buds to capture the plant at different moments of its life cycle. The flowing composition is influenced by the elegant lines of the Art Nouveau (Liberty) style, echoing the natural movement of the vine as it weaves and climbs.

Nestled among the flowers, a bumblebee searches for nectar, a small reminder of the close relationship between garden plants and their pollinators. Painted with layered watercolour and ink on Hahnemühle Bamboo paper.
