A vibrant botanical art print from my original acrylic gouache painting of a pink rose.
For this artwork, I wanted to push the colours beyond a naturalistic representation of the flower. The petals are built from layers of pink, magenta, lavender, violet, coral, yellow and cool blue, creating a luminous and expressive interpretation of a rose in full bloom.
Rather than painting each petal with a single colour, I explored the subtle colour shifts within the flower: warm and cool tones meeting, soft pastels contrasting with saturated pigments, and unexpected flashes of colour emerging between the layers.
